Favor in Letting Go

Luke 5:4-7 (MSG)

When he finished teaching, he said to Simon, “Push out into deep water and let your nets out for a catch.”

5-7 Simon said, “Master, we’ve been fishing hard all night and haven’t caught even a minnow. But if you say so, I’ll let out the nets.” It was no sooner said than done—a huge haul of fish, straining the nets past capacity. They waved to their partners in the other boat to come help them. They filled both boats, nearly swamping them with the catch.

Today, I was inspired by one verse a friend sent to me. The message read, “Nevertheless at YOUR word I will…” Luke 5:5. I read the verse again, the third time I read its entirety and I had a new outlook on the verse.

In life, often times, the smallest thing can create the largest challenge, change or circumstance. That “little” thing can change our thoughts in a negative or positive way.  It’s in that moment, that change can take place, although our human nature doesn’t adapt well to change.  It’s amazing the impact something so small can become a catalyst for our lives.  Letting go, although seemingly simple, can be such a strenuous task. Letting go, requires uncertainty, discomfort, the unknown and the inability to control a situation.

I’ve noticed when visiting any beach, there’s always a crowd near the shore, because it’s shallow.  There are very few people that will go beyond that point to experience other excursions, because of fear.  It’s our fear that will prohibit activation of faith.

The verse inspired me, because, it was in “Letting go” and “Trusting” that something happened.   In moments of weariness, an unknown strength is given by the Holy Spirit.  The text suggest, “Push out into deep water.”  Pushing out into the deep water requires placing Trust in something greater than self, even when it’s beyond your control. Simon mentioned, “We’ve been fishing hard all night and haven’t caught even a minnow. But if you say so, I’ll let out the nets.”  Don’t get tired in the circumstance, but expect the JOY of the outcome!! When you push out, you’re pushing away from things and/or people that should be behind. After toiling and no result, nor the ability to catch a minnow (a small fish), it would be easy to “give up!”  After hearing the voice of God and being “obedient” there was a multitude of fish, which strained the nets capacity.  Your prayers aren’t unanswered, or in vain, He’s just waiting on you to completely, “Cast your net!”

Today, take Him at His word and simply say, “Nevertheless at your word, I WILL…” Your purpose is greater than your “right now.”  God is calling you to “cast your net” of doubt, fear, anxiety and complacency, so that HE can release more! In the process He will heal, cleanse, purge, sustain, provide, protect, and keep you. The blessings will overflow.  He wants you to go further, don’t allow life to keep you on the shore.  It only takes a little faith and trust to go beyond.  It’s time to “Cast your net!”

If we gave faith the power that we give to worry, our “faith walk” would be incredible!!!

Be inspired!!!!
