When your stumbling block becomes your Stepping Stone

on March 21, 2013
Stumbling Block:  an obstacle or hindrance to progress, belief, or understanding.

Stepping Stone:  a stone in a marsh or shallow water that can be stepped on in crossing; any means of advancement

Matthew 16:23 Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men.”

23 But Jesus didn’t swerve. “Peter, get out of my way. Satan, get lost. You have no idea how God works.” (Message Version)

Have you ever stumbled, not paying attention to what you were suppose to be doing? Perhaps, you’ve stumbled repeatedly, not realizing why you fell the first time or is it safe to say, “I wasn’t focused.”  Children do it often, sometimes getting up to do it all over again. Then there are times when the fall may require the child being consoled by a parent. After being consoled, it’s time to get up and keep it moving.

I’ve realized, it’s not how you fall, but how you get up! The enemy will throw stumbling blocks (physically, mentally, emotionally, health) your way and you may become immune to them, so you get up and keep going.  Then there are those stumbling blocks of life that may keep you down just a little while longer that might cause a few tears and sometimes you just may have to walk alone, away from everyone else.  That particular stumbling block, may cause you to call on the father, like a child needing a parent. Is it possible that you’re stumbling, because of who you’re following? In the text, Peter was tempting Jesus not to go on the cross, so that He wouldn’t die for our sins. In my opinion, he was Satan’s mouthpiece.  Sometimes in life people/things will try to speak things into your life for their benefit, and not your own. Be careful who you allow to speak into you, it can easily be a mouthpiece of Satan. Everyone that has a smile on their face doesn’t necessarily have a smile on their heart!

Whenever it feels like you’re continuously stumbling through life, remember, if you don’t stumble, you can’t step out onto the stepping stone.  I love the stepping stone, because it’s firm, and you can step over the things that once had you bound.  Make your negatives positive, and allow Satan to know, his place is behind you.  Allow your stepping stones to take you higher and to change your current situation. Man can’t make miracles, he can only make mess! Tell him to get OUT of your way, you’re on an assignment! If you are stumbling that means God is trying to advance you, perhaps He’s shielding you from something you cannot handle alone! When you get up….look up…it’s going to be alright! Are you going to step out on your stone(s)? Have faith and allow God to carry you above your circumstance!!

 Dear God,

I pray for each heart that’s reading this word on today. I personally had a few stumbling blocks writing this message, and it occurred that whenever your Name/Word is reaching the hearts of others the enemy will began to throw out stumbling blocks. Thank you for the stumbling blocks that we’re facing, and allow your glory to be seen in the stepping stone. Each stumbling block is only setting US up for a blessing! Teach us not to become immune by our stumbling blocks.  I rebuke any spirit that’s not of You! Touch those that are sick, for by your stripes we are healed. I bind every assignment from the enemy in Jesus name. For this is the day you have made and we shall and will rejoice. In advance, thank you for all you’ve done and are doing right now. We will walk in expectancy, knowing ALL things will work together for our good!

In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Remember to “Thank GOD” for your right now….He’s setting you up to step on your stones….It’s my hope that you can share this message with someone else….inspire!
